Exchange studies in Film and Media

Courses offered

SKH offers you to follow courses from the curriculum of the Bachelor's Programme in Film and Media (year 2, semester 4). You will study courses within your specialisation together with SKH's second-year bachelor's students in Film and Media and also in collaboration with students from other disciplines at SKH.

Courses included in the spring semester 2027:

• Theory of Composition, 7.5 ECTS (theory course)
• Tool Course in Specialisation - Sustainable Artistery, 7.5 ECTS (tool course within your specialisation)
• Multi Discipline Project, 15 ECTS (you work within your specialisation alongside other undergraduates from both the Film and Media programme and the Performing Arts to create a production for an audience)

Application

The application period is 15 September to 15 October 2026.

1. Ask your coordinator to nominate you for exchange studies at SKH by sending an email to exchanges@uniarts.se.
2. You submit your application via the online application system Varbi. Please note that we only accept applications via Varbi and that we will not consider any applications from students sent by e-mail or regular post.

• Registration certificate from your home university
• Transcript of records of your programme and courses at your home university completed so far

Describe why you are applying for exchange studies in film and media at SKH and what your expectations are (maximum one page).

Work sample

When you submit your application via SKH’s application system, please upload or provide a link to your work sample within the specialisation you are applying for, following the instructions.

Please note: If you have used AI tools or techniques to create or edit video, images, audio or text in any of your artistic works or submitted samples, please describe how you used them and your creative process.

1. Animation

Upload a work sample in the form of a filmed story. Maximum two minutes, maximum 150 MB. Video formats: mov, mp4 or avi. Create and upload a story on the theme of ‘Childhood memories’. You are free to choose between animated material, still images and drawings or paintings you have created yourself – you may use just one of these formats or mix them as you wish. The story must consist of your own images (no clips from archives or YouTube, for example). It is also recommended that you add sound. The story should be created as an animation using any technique of your choice. A simple editing programme may be used.

2. Cinematography

Create and upload a story on the theme of “A Day at Work”. The series should depict a professional in their working life. The story must consist of six still images, which can be taken using any (simple) technique. Use your own images; do not borrow any from archives or the internet, for example. The assessment will focus on how well you convey a sense of atmosphere through the images in relation to the story. Max 150 MB per file. File format: JPG.

3. Direction Fiction

Record and upload a video on the theme ‘An unusual day in the life of an ordinary person’. The video must feature at least two people and may contain a maximum of four lines of dialogue. It doesn’t matter what type of camera you use, and the video can be edited using a simple editing programme (for example, everything can be done using a mobile phone). Maximum four minutes, maximum 150 MB. File formats: MOV, MP4 or AVI.

4. Documentary Storytelling

Record and upload a short film on the theme of ‘A day at work’. The film should depict a professional in their working life. It doesn’t matter what type of camera you use, and the film can be edited using a simple editing programme (for example, everything can be done using a mobile phone). Maximum four minutes, maximum 150 MB. File formats: MOV, MP4 or AVI.

5. Editing

Create and upload a story on the theme of “A Day at Work”. The piece should depict a professional in their working life. You may choose to use audio only, or a combination of audio, moving images and still images. By “audio”, we mean your own sound recordings of, for example, details and ambient sounds – so-called field recordings. You must not use dialogue, voice-over or background music. The story (audio file or video file) must consist of your own recorded material. You can record and edit using simple equipment and software (everything can be done with a mobile phone). Maximum three minutes, maximum 150 MB. Video file in MOV, MP4 or AVI format, or audio file in MP3, WAV, M4A or AIFF format.

6. Immersive Media Production

Turn an idea or concept into an immersive experience through a video. The film should have the theme “A day at work”. The film should depict a professional in their working life. It doesn’t matter what type of camera is used, and the film can be edited using a simple editing programme (everything can be done with a mobile phone, for example). Maximum four minutes, maximum 150 MB. File format: mov, mp4 or avi.

7. Production

Describe a concept for a film, a drama or web series, or another media project. It may be fiction or non-fiction, based on a source text or a real-life event. Please outline the content, format and intended target audience, as well as your proposed distribution method. Maximum three A4 pages, 12,000 characters. Please submit as a PDF.

8. Production Design

Describe a scene you wish to design the set for. Write an explanation of why you have chosen to design the set for this scene. It may be an existing scene from a film, TV or theatre script. It could also be, for example, a newspaper clipping, or you could invent a short scene yourself. You decide whether it is set in the present, past or future. Maximum one A4 page, 4,000 characters including spaces. Use PDF. Also upload a maximum of 4 images of this set design. Maximum 150 MB per file. File format: JPG or PDF.

9. Screenwriting

The work sample consists of two parts:
1. Concept description. Maximum one A4 page, 4,000 characters. Use PDF. Describe a concept for a feature film, drama series or web series. It may be an original idea, based on a source text or a real-life event.
2. A scene with dialogue from your idea. Maximum one A4 page, 4,000 characters. Use PDF.

10. Sound

Upload a short audio piece. Maximum three minutes, maximum 150 MB. Audio file in MP3, WAV, M4A or AIFF format.

• Create and upload an audio piece on the theme ‘An unusual day in the life of an ordinary person’. You may choose to use sound alone or a combination of sound and voice, such as dialogue. By ‘sound’, we mean your own sound recordings of, for example, details and ambient sounds. You must not use pre-recorded music.
• The audio piece must consist of your own recorded material. You can record and edit using simple equipment and software (everything can be done with a mobile phone).
