To-Do: Practices for Noticing Instructions Hidden in Plain Sight & More
Instructions are all around and within us, competing for our attention and telling us, explicitly or implicitly, what to do. Often authorative in tone, they have power, in that they suggest the actions we take and how we use our time and energy.
What if we’re only as good as the instructions that we follow?
The current phase of this doctoral project (working title: Doing to Tell about It) explores the nature of the instructions that surround people in their everyday lives, and it proposes creative ways to notice those instructions, modify them or generate new ones, respond to them and eventually tell the story of the process.
This seminar will include a brief presentation by the researcher, followed by a presentation of the research from the conversation partner’s point of view. Subsequently, a discussion will take place between the researcher and the conversation partner, and finally, the discussion will open up to members of the audience.
