Wednesday seminar: Ways of Sharing In/Visibility
This seminar is part of the Wednesday seminar series this autumn, where we explore ways of sharing. Here you can learn more about the series and discover upcoming seminars!
In this session we will discuss an expanded field of vision, proposing an understanding that does not oppose visibility to invisibility, but that rather attends to the complexity of the realm of what we call the visible. We will discuss questions like: What do we mean when we talk about images? What do we mean by seeing? We will approach them from our respective practices/projects, detailing how they have changed our accustomed ways of doing/thinking.
Mette Edvardsen’s work is situated within the performing arts field as a choreographer and performer. Although some of her works explore other media or other formats, such as video, books and writing, her interest is always in their relationship to the performing arts as a practice and a situation. She has worked since 1994 as a dancer and performer for a number of companies and projects, and develops her own work since 2002. She presents her works internationally and continues to develop projects with other artists, both as a collaborator and as a performer. She holds a Phd from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
Victoria Pérez Royo is a performing arts researcher and professor at the Faculty of Philosophy (Unizar) and has taught internationally. Member of the research association ARTEA, she has devised and coordinated practice-based research contexts at art centers like Reina Sofia Museum, La Casa Encendida and Matadero (Madrid).
