Within practice
Welcome to five days of workshops, practice presentations, lectures, and gatherings with friends and colleagues from the contemporary dance community.
Within Practice sheds light on the daily work of dance artists and artistic practices. Here you get the chance to enter the world of choreography centre, hear and see how the artists think and work, what drives them and how their art takes shape.
At the start of the week, dance professionals and students will have the chance to immerse themselves in dance practices through joint morning classes and workshops.
From Thursday onwards, the Stockholm audience will have the opportunity to take part in practice presentations from each artist.
This year's focus artists will all give workshops as well as present their artistic practice through a public practice presentation. This year our lineup of artists includes Thomas Hauert (BE/CH), Escarleth Romo Pozo (NI/PE/SE), Tiran Willemse (CH/ZA), Manuel Rodriguez (ES) Skånes Dansteater (SE), and Eszter Salamon (DE/FR/HU).
The festival offers morning classes during the week led by Horácio Macuacua, Pär Andersson and Madeleine Lindh. In addition, we present talks, meetings and opportunities to immerse yourself in trends in the field of contemporary dance on Saturday afternoon at Dansens Hus.
The opening night of the festival 5 October will also feature a session on the generative nature of failed practices led by choreographer Darko Dragičević together with New Performative Practices MA students from SKH.
