At this Crip Salon, we are hosting performance maker and academic Laura Murphy, who will present fragments of their performance work, writing, and research. 
The afternoon will include a preview reading of Laura’s essay ‘Neuroqueering the Rope’ (exp. published 2027), which details their experiences as a queer autistic performance maker exploring the dialogue between autobiography and aerial rope within their practice. It will also offer an insight into the trajectory of Laura’s work, from their early research into performance activism to their more recent creations; solos Contra and A Spectacle of Herself, directing work and commission to work with music artist Peaches.

Laura Murphy
Laura Murphy is an award winning performance maker from Bristol, who makes text driven and dynamic physical work about things that they think needs to be talked about. Proudly neurodivergent and queer, they define their work as a genre-defying cross-disciplinary fusion of theatre, live art, aerial choreography, dance and verbal explosions, which integrates intimacy and spectacle. Their work traverses the personal and the political, connecting the everyday and autobiographical testimony to wider global and social issues.
