This Crip Salon will take the shape of an experimental, practice-based session as part of SKH’s Seminar Series´Ways of Sharing 2026´

The session will attempt to activate a felt sense of different temporalities through rest and horizontality, embodied storytelling, and somatic scores that explore crip time as ‘cubist time’ and ‘expanded time’. 
The seminar will explore material from Raquel’s research and new work Proper Time, which uses the physics of spacetime and disabled people’s experiences of time to challenge, disrupt and depart from normative, capitalist, colonialist, white supremacist, partriarchal time. 
The work invites audiences to consider the textures and poetry of different times through first person narratives, soundscapes, movement and the inventive use of an overhead projector to explore the epic in everyday objects. The work also asks ‘if we could really understand another person’s felt sense of time, could we build a bridge to it?’, exploring the idea of ‘absent presence’ to connect audiences with a remote ‘crip chorus’. 
Raquel’s research points to how much closer crip time is to the poetry of spacetime, than time as dictated by the clock. 

Raquel Meseguer Zafe
Raquel’s work straddles dance, installation, performative conversations and photo-documentary. She works with rest and horizontality to create theatrical encounters that explore the lived experience of invisible disability. Her project A Crash Course in Cloudspotting is performance and a digital archive of resting stories. Her new work Proper Time explores crip time and the potential for ‘absent presence’.
Raquel co-founded Lost Dog dance and was Associate Artist on Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me), and Juliet + Romeo. She was nominated for a 2023  Olivier Award (Outstanding Achievement in Dance) for her Dramaturgy on Lost Dog’s Ruination. Alongside Dominic Mitchel, she was co-artistic director of Candoco Dance Company January 2024 - July 2025.
